A charge of ¥1,000 per category will be added to the cost of passes purchased on the day of the convention. Passes can be purchased at the general reception on the 3rd floor of the Kobe International Conference Center.

If you join the JFA at the same time as your application to take part in the convention, the sign-up fee is waivered under the current promotional campaign. Paying the annual membership fee of ¥6,000 entitles you to attend the convention at members prices.

Farewell Party Invitation

Founded in 1966 as the only organization in Japan for both professional and amateur flute players to come together to socialize and share their passion for the flute. The late Prof. Masao Yoshida was the leading figure in the establishment of the JFA.

Organized every summer with many participants from all over Japan.

[Journal]

The journal is issued four times a year. It consists of a multitude of up-to-date flute-related information, interviews, pedagogical insights, members’ community pages, as well as concert information and reviews from Japan and around the world.

Sign-up fee and Annual Membership Fee

  • Sign-up fee: Waivered
  • Membership fee: ¥6,000 (for one year)
  • Your member card and the latest journal at the time of your entry will be sent to you after you have officially joined the JFA.
  • If you have a family member who is a JFA member, you can be apply for family membership. In this case the annual membership fee is an additional 1,000 yen as only one journal will be sent to the household.
  • For example, 6,000 yen for a single membership plus 1,000 yen for each family member who also wishes to join the JFA. (Up to two family members)
  • If you wish to receive the journal overseas a mailing fee of ¥3,500 will be added annually.
  • The Promotional Campaign for the sign-up fee waiver runs from Wednesday, 7th of May to the Sunday 24th August 2025.

Convention Participation Guidelines

Application from overseas participants is only available online.

1. Confirmation of your membership:

Membership status needs to be confirmed as convention participation fees vary for members and non-members. If you are not a member you can apply to be a JFA member at the same time as applying for the convention. If you choose to do so you will be able to take advantage of JFA’s special membership campaign which runs throughout the registration period. (See below for details) By doing so this will significantly reduce the overall costs of applying for the convention.

Membership requires that the annual membership fee has been paid in full to the end of 2025. If you are uncertain about your membership status, email the JFA Secretariat [kobe.2025.cnv@japan-flutists.org] to check.

Whether you apply to join the JFA specifically for the convention or choose to apply as non-member please proceed and complete the application procedure.

2. How to apply:

Apply online: Visit Application Form page, and fill in and send the required information.

Application Period is open from Wednesday, 7 May to Friday, 15 August. Applicants who do not receive payment confirmation by Monday 18th of August will be required to pay for a “same day” pass which bears an additional cost of ¥1,000 per category. The outstanding amount can be paid at the general reception when you check in at the convention.

Please make sure to include your current email address when applying.

Upon sending the completed form, an email will be sent to your email address acknowledging your application. If you do not receive this email, please check your email settings.

After receiving the mail, proceed to the application section. Payment can only be made by credit card.

3. Payment and Participation Fees: and Other:

Make the payment online after receiving the email notifying you of your application number and the amount you need to pay. The fees will include your selected options of Convention participation, farewell party, and or JFA annual membership.

  • All fees must be paid in full.
  • The remittance should be made in the name of the participant.
  • All handling fees are to be covered by the participant.
  • Fees are non-refundable.

4. Completion of procedure

The application procedure is completed when the office has received your application form(s) and fee(s).

  • Your participation pass (QR code) will be sent to you after the application period has closed. (Please inform the JFA if you have not received it by Friday, 8 August.)
  • The selected participation category cannot be changed (e.g. from one-day to the entire convention) after the application period has closed.
  • Please show your QR code participation pass either displayed on your smartphone screen or in paper format at the reception when you check in.
  • In the case of a lost participation pass, one can be re-issued at the venue for ¥500.
  • Tickets for the farewell party cannot be reissued.
