1st Prize: A certificate of merit and prize money of 800,000 yen
2nd Prize: A certificate of merit and prize money of 400,000 yen

Masao Yoshida Award: A certificate of merit and prize money of 100,000 yen
※The top prize winner(s) will be offered an opportunity to play in a concert held during the next convention.
Eligibility Open to any nationality and age.
Members of the Japan Flutists Association, including those who join JFA for this occasion.
Participants must attend the entire convention.
Applicants who do not submit a participation application for the entire convention period will not be considered.
Previous first prize winners of this competition are not permitted to participate in the same division.
Number of Contestants Limited to the first 120. Please note that the application will close once the limit is reached.
Application Period Wednesday, 7th of May to Friday, 20th of June, 2025

Candidates are selected on a first come, first served basis.
Applications will no longer be accepted once the limit of 120 candidates has been reached. If the limit is exceeded on any day during the application period, those who applied on that day will be entered into a lottery. Following this process, no further applications will be accepted.
An announcement will be made on the JFA’s website when the limit is reached.
Participation Application Fee ¥12,000 (Note: If a candidate applies for two separate divisions, ¥2,000 will be discounted from the total amount.)
The application fee is non-refundable unless the application is rejected due to reaching the limit of 120 participants.
How to Apply 1. Apply for the Solo Division via Japan Flutists Association’s website.
2. Apply for the participation in the 22nd Japan Flute Convention in KOBE 2025.

【Repertoire Pieces】

< 1st Round > ※To be performed from memory

Perform one Fantasy from memory from G. Ph. Telemann: 12 Fantasien TWV40: 2-13, (without repeats)

※The Da Capo must be played if using an edition with Da Capo printed.

< 2nd Round > Select one piece from (2) to be performed after the (1) mandatory piece.

(1) Mandatory piece:

S. Karg-Elert: 30 Caprices (Etudes) Op.107, No.23

(2) Select one piece from the following:

P-O. Ferroud: III “Toan Yan” from Trois pièces pour flûte seule

J. Ibert: Pièce pour flûte seule

E. Bozza: Image pour flûte seule

< 3rd Round > Perform the following two pieces in order of (1) and (2).

(1) J. S. Bach: Sonate für Flöte E-Dur BWV 1035. (Without repeats)

(2) A. Casella: Sicilienne et Burlesque Op.23

< Final > Perform the following two pieces in any order.

T. Takemitsu: “Itinerant” in Memory of Isamu Noguchi for flute solo

W. A. Mozart: Konzert D-Dur KV 314. (With cadenzas of the contestant’s choice)

Accompanist

Official accompanists will be provided by the organizer.

Contestants who play with an official accompanist must follow the rehearsal schedule instructed by the organizer.

It is not possible to request a specific pianist from the list of official accompanists.

The participation fee covers the costs of the official accompanists.

Contestants are also permitted to bring their own accompanist.

The conditions regarding the length of rehearsal time and the venue for the rehearsal is the same for candidates who choose to bring their own accompanist.

Accompanists are not required to pay the participation fee; however, they are not permitted to participate in the other programs for the duration of the convention.
