Notification of the change of performers at the Japan Flute Convention-
Mr. Schaaff has had to cancel his trip to Japan.
“Ulf-Dieter Schaaff Flute Recital“ scheduled for Aug.23 has been changed to “Christina Fassbender Flute Recital”.
Ms. Fassbender has studied with J.C. Gerard in Stuttgardt, and with M.M. Kofler in Salzburg. She has won various accolades within and out of Germany. As a soloist, she has appeared with renowned orchestras such as Konzerthaus Orchester Berlin (formerly known as Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra) and Komische Oper Berlin. From 1999 to 2012, she played in the Komische Oper Berlin Orchestra as principle flutist. At the same time, she played in other orchestras such as the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, Cologne Radio Symphony Orchestra, and the Bavarian Opera Orchestra as guest principle flutist.
Ms. Fassbender has taught as professor at Munster Music University, Mainz Music University, and Wurzburg Music University. Since 2017, she has become professor at Berlin University of the Arts. Currently, aside from teaching at the university, she gives masterclasses, judges in competitions and appears in various music festivals. She is one of Germany’s highly notable flutists.
